Songs of the Season: A Forgotten Classic

Thanks to Jenica for reminding me about this little gem. Though it may not be considered a classic by all, it certainly is in my book! And today it made me cry.

Permission to Rest

Hampton Park, December 2008

~ Ashleigh Brilliant

Give yourself permission to rest today. You deserve it.

Sounds of the Season (a.k.a. SOTS)

I love Christmas music. Every year come the last few weeks of November I'm just twitching and itching to pull out my stack of Christmas CDs and the few LPs (Elvis, Bing Crosby, Pavarotti... HELLO!) that are patiently waiting for a new turntable this year.

I thought it would be fun to share a few favourite tunes during the next few weeks, just 'cause.

This first one up brings me back to Mom & Dad's living room, new Christmas PJs and a Charlie Brown Christmas tree covered in skinny foil tinsel.

Enjoy...

Art Inspires Art

LHL Tunnel No. 2

(Trip to NB, Christmas 2008)

Ever since I've outed myself as an artist to people who didn't know I was I've been hearing a familiar refrain that goes something like this:

"You know I used to take photographs when I was younger. I even won awards and was published in the local press. Years ago I sold all my equipment and I haven't really taken any photos since, but I still read up on it!"

"I've always wanted to try painting...hm... I have some blank canvases and paints at home, maybe I'll try!"

"I used to do watercolours but I stopped. I guess work just took up all of my energy and I had none left over for painting. Maybe I'll take my watercolours out again..."

People are outing themselves too! I'm discovering closet artists everywhere and I love it!

Art inspires art. Word.
