Autumn Intentions

oak leaf - the product of an artistic moment at the office

Inspired by Meghan's post at her oh-so-soothing space {with} PRACTICE, I decided to list some intentions for the upcoming months. Different than to-dos (I'm really good at those), it took a few tries but managed to come up with something I like.

This autumn I intend to:

  • slow down
  • get outside
  • hang with D. and Cassie
  • cook comforting meals
  • preserve food
  • read
  • make art
  • see art
  • sell art
  • be still and seek insight within
  • follow through with integrity
  • sip coffee
  • clean house (literally)
  • visit and connect with family, hold my seven month old niece and smother the top of her head with auntie kisses
  • keep focusing on aligning life and values

What are your intentions for the season? Tell me.

I hope to slow down and pay attention and not be all wrapped up in worry
I hope to spend more time outside, even if it is just to stand and breathe, or stare up at the sky, or listen to the leaves rustle
I hope to pay closer attention to my body-- not as I want it to be, but as it is-- what it needs right now in spite of my agendas
I hope to write more from the heart and less from the should-y place of rationality
I want to play as well as work
I want to give myself permission to make messes in the act of creation
I want to take a moment when I sink into bed, when I am still enough so my body's outlines fade, to just soak up the deliciousness of flannel sheets and a blanket
I want to remember just how good it feels to be fed- full with love and creativity
and
with that remembering, to move toward/open and allow more

Well, I will be cutting and pasting from your list!

I definitely want/need to Slow Down ...
continue making art
continue taking pictures
But doing it all for my enjoyment and with an understanding I want to learn and grow, so messes and mistakes will be a sign of progress!
I want to create an atmosphere of calm, of nurturance in my home (guess that means cleaning the clutter) and spend more time doing less.
My hope is to spend more time doing fun activities with my daughter ... hopefully as it gets cooler, we will return to our afternoon habit of cocoa and board games. I play a mean Chutes and Ladders!

You know, your space here makes me feel all relaxed, ready to settle in and really savor the season. That is the energy you emit :)

Thanks for your sweet comment on my post. I'm glad we found each other thru flying lessons. I think we just might be soulmates--your list of intentions could be my own. But to not commit copyright violation--because you've now inspired me to make my own list--I'll try to change it up a little bit:)
Now I must go explore your blog and art further! Take care, Carrie
