Remembering

photo from a stash I inherited from my great uncle and great-grandmother

"Anselme à Lucie Babineau" is scribbled on the back, he looks so young

Today I remember and am grateful for those who have served in the past and those who still do today. Thank you.

Wander and Regroup

golden Cassie, she lets her psyche wander every day

”I always forget how important the empty days are, how important it may be sometimes not to expect to produce anything even a few lines in a journal … The most valuable thing we can do for the psyche, occasionally, is to let it rest, wander, live in the changing light of a room, not to try to be or do anything whatever.”

~ May Sarton, Journal of a solitude

Merci à Nathalie from Flowing Moments for the quote.

I'm back online after a computer-free weekend (except for a 10-minute check-in on Sunday - but I didn't even enjoy it I swear!). I desperately needed time to let my psyche rest and wander, it felt good.

Now I'm here and letting myself regroup for work to come in the next few weeks. That feels good too.

An update on last week's art show opening will come soon, I promise. Stay tuned...

Remembering to Breathe

wire cutters courtesy of J. to help hang the paintings

The paintings are up on the wall, prints packaged and ready to go, the outfit for the affair carefully chosen (casual chic with a bit of an edge).

The butterflies are flying rampant about tomorrow's official opening for this month's solo art exhibit called Abstract Play. A little voice crying Insecurity is coming in loud and clear with words like "impostor", "fraud" and "Who do you think you are?"

Luckily there's a second voice chiming in with words like "Wow!", "Way to go!" and "Frig those paintings look good on the wall!"

And through it all I remember to breathe.

Halloween Wisdom

There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people:

religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin.

On Discomfort and Success...

"... the number one requirement for success is the willingness to be uncomfortable. Pretty soon, what now feels weird will begin to seem quite normal."

~ Barbara Stanny, Overcoming Underearning

What would you be willing to temporarily risk comfort for?
